Could this happen now, in modern times?
It's seventy years later, 2025 is it possible that white male lawyers are still taking the wealth out of the black community so we'll go from the house above to the house below?
Yes it happened. In the City of Philadelphia over four hundred million dollars of wealth was stripped out of the black community in an instant by guess who, white lawyers and their female accomplice's using the same tactic's of over-evaluations of properties owned by blacks. History repeats itself.
The only question now is the Mayor of Philly going to protect her citizens from this bias illegal over-evaluations or is she the new modern day Mayor Mabel?
I'm reading Nana's book of the story on how Mabel Jackson became the mayor of Lowhope.
Nana is ninety years old and wants my sisters and I to know black history. Nana's favorite words are " Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it"
Mayor Mabel is about a black women living in an all-black southern town called Lowhope in the 1930's who loved her liquor. She drank so much it was hard for anyone to tell if she was drunk or sober, she kind of mastered hiding it when she was liquored up.
The property owners in Lowhope were building wealth through their properties so a group of white male lawyers got together and collaborated on how to take that wealth away from the black property owners in Lowhope.
They came up with a plan to pass a law that Lowhope had to have a Mayor to make decisions for the towns people. Since there was no voting in that time period for black people the lawyers said they would appoint a Mayor.
The lawyers held a meeting knowing they had to appoint a black Mayor so they would not meet with any resistance, They also knew they needed someone they would have total control over. Just as they were pondering a decision word came in that Mable was arrested walking drunk along a roadway and was charged with public drunkenness.
The lawyers eyes lit up and one lawyer quickly demanded the police bring Mabel to them in two days after she's had time to sober up. Two days later they struck a deal with Maybel, they didn't charge her with her crime in return for her becoming Mayor and obeying there ever order. Mabel agreed, and became Mayor Mabel.
Maybel went home and celebrated, yelling I'm the Mayor, everyone in town will be kissing my big fat ass. Free food, free booze, free servant, free car and driver and I get paid. I'm in heaven.
THE WHITE LAWYERS PROCEED TO STRIP THE WEALTH OUT OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY THROUGH ELEVATED PROPERTY TAXES . WHILE MAYOR MABEL DID NOTHING TO STOP THEM.
If I could talk I would ask where are the men and women who are supposed to protect us. Why are you doing nothing to keep us safe from those people in the Philly Office of Property Assessments whose only agenda is to put and keep us in poverty?
Your cowardice is going to leave us all homeless. They're taking away our dignity and our wealth. What are you waiting for, them to put shackles on your ankles?
Why the hell did you have children if you're not going to protect us. Our ancestors fought hard for these rights and all you're doing is sitting on your asses while they're being taken away. Fight back before you lose what little you have left.
